Graphic design is a field that seems to keep on growing. As technology evolves, so do the requirements for designers. Pencil, markers, and paper use to be the primary way graphic designers would create ads, illustrations, logos and more. As technology developed, so did the process of design. The introduction of computers, drawing tablets, smart phones, smart tablets, websites, and more, have forever changed the field of graphic design.

Graphic design isn't simply drawing a logo once, picking some fonts, picking some colors, slapping it all together and boom your done. As we've discussed in previously, graphic designers do more than that, but with technology evolving, they especially do way more than that. 'Graphic designer' can be the primary title for what the designer is, or it can be a generic blanket title. 'A Graphic Design Department' can include a UX designer, an AI designer, a 3D designer, a branding designer & Manager, a marketing designer, an illustrator, and so on and so forth.

Different businesses require different types of designers. Packaging will more likely lean more towards structural engineer designers and graphic designers. Military will more likely go for more UX, UI, and 3D designers. Automotive may go for more 3D, illustration, and graphic designers. Just because a business requires a different type of designer does not make the others less important. So depending on your particular focus for design, you may end up in a very particular field or industry.

However, as a business, expecting a designer to be a jack of all trades when it comes to all forms of design is next to impossible. It would be like hiring an electrical engineer, and expect them to also do mechanical, civil, and computer engineering. It just isn't likely. Most designers focus on one or two particular fields to be advanced in, but have dabbled in other fields as well to have beginner experience in. Expecting the world of one person for any job is just highly irresponsible.

Designers come in a variety of specialties. What they do isn't easy. It takes time, effort, and collaboration to create solid pieces of work. So just because it seems like it's easy, don't undermine or undercut them. They work hard and put their all into every piece of work they do. All this, of course, coming from a graphic designer.

Sincerely,

Just Your Average Graphic Designer in totally Digital World
